Dear Friends,
I can trace my love affair with photography to my childhood when I would be happy snapping pictures of our family vacation with our point-n-shoot camera. However, I was only a distant admirer then and never committed myself to the art. I neither had the time to go and get a formal education in photography nor had the resources to buy expensive equipment to pursue it seriously. My love remained distant and fleeting. But then, that was destined to change.
Few years ago, my wife, Avani and I moved to America chasing a new dream. This is when I bought my first serious camera, a Nikon N80. For a while it gathered dust in my closet until one day, it dawned on me that I had better use of my time and was blessed to be living in a country where the only factor limiting my learning was the degree of my motivation. So, here I am practicing the art. I am shooting, reading up books, participating in local camera club events/photo outings and experimenting with my camera. My gear is basic but my desire to learn and excel, immense.
To me photography is more then just taking a good picture. It is about experiencing and appreciating our natural environment, treading paths that we would seldom otherwise cross in our daily lives and meeting some of the most friendliest and beautiful people in this world. The joys I derive living through a “photographic moment” are simple. The emotions evoked are raw.
Being an outdoor enthusiast, be it sports, travel or adventure, I love shooting the broad vistas of landscapes. I am also attracted by the patterns, symmetry, organization and details of macro photography. However, between these two extremes, I will click the shutter if I like what I see.
Welcome to my photo gallery. These are my baby steps. As you browse, feel free to critique or leave comments. My learning is not complete without your feedback. Bookmark this page and do visit it often as I continue to hone my skills and add new galleries and photographs. Thank you for visiting.
Warm Regards,
Tejas
